Iglesia Biblica Centro Restauracion is a grass roots, Bible-believing church that was born out of a house Bible study over 5 years ago.Our purpose is to provide a complete mission of Bible-based doctrine to restore personal lives spiritually while at the same time, providing family recreation to the general community in a Christian atmosphere where families can be restored and where the gospel of Jesus Christ is lived out each and every day.
Playa Palma is a small community sandwiched between Jaco and Quepos,
both large tourism destinations on the central Pacific coast of Costa
Rica. The only employment in the community is agricultural which pays 350 Colones per hour...less than $1.00 US and there is not enough work for all those needing employment. An example of what that wage can buy is this: a sweet pepper costs 180 Colones...someone would have to work more than a half hour to just buy one. Many families do not eat well enough to call it proper nutrition. We have begun to address the unemployment situation by starting a sewing cooperative. Currently two families are being supported from the proceeds earned by making and selling clothing.
In addition to the family recreation we will be able to offer, the center will also offer health and educational classes such as Saturday morning story reading for the children to introduce them to the joys of reading as well as a 'health clinic' for visiting doctors and dentists who come to offer their services to the people of the community. There are plans to have a small restaurant adjoining a family center where two women will be employed initially. Our hope is that the business will expand and provide more opportunities for employment. Our primary focus will be to hire single moms so that they can support their children. We already have a stove, double fry machine, popcorn maker and we are looking for small freezer to finish furnishing the small restaurant.

Unfortunately
Playa Palma has been completely overlooked as a tourist site partly due to
the very poor access road to the community.
We plan to build a family
center "El Oasis" (The Oasis) which will serve not only as our
place of worship and ministry, but will be the ONLY family recreation
center for miles around. It will provide a healthy alternative to the bars
for the young people and will have a weight-lifting gym, pool and ping
pong tables, dart board and table games. This family center is the
beginning of addressing the many needs of the community as a whole and
providing a clean wholesome atmosphere where families can come and spend
time together.
