Burnett Family's Costa Rican Adventure

One fine Spring day after many postponements, we embarked on a long-awaited family adventure to the beautiful country of Costa Rica.

This is a personal account of our adventure, produced for our own pleasure and to share with friends and family, but which we think might provide some helpful information as well as a little enjoyment.  For us Costa Rica is not just about rain forests and scenery and ecology, but consists of the heartbeat of the people who bring it to life.  There is a plethora of information on the web about Costa Rica and this site is not intended to be a comprehensive travel resource.

However, we think the knowledge and information gleaned from others' travel reports is invaluable especially when planning a trip to an area where you have not been before and have no personal point of reference.  If you have done any traveling, Butterfly courtesy of Shannon Relaford you already know that things are sometimes not what you imagined or expected from the brochures or advertisements.  We found that to be especially true in Costa Rica.  So personal, candid accounts from others' experiences can greatly contribute to the success of another's trip.  And besides, they can be extremely entertaining -- esta muy divertido!

Our photographs were taken with an inexpensive camera, a mistake I won't repeat. Some of the photos and sounds have been graciously provided by others and are used with their written permission.

We hope you will enjoy our site.

I highly recommend you visit the Q&A forum set up by Philip Greenspun to ask specific questions of others who have had their own Costa Rican adventures.
